So we just found the CUTEST hotel in the world.
We recently had the chance to stay at Mountain View Experience, located 1.5 hours outside of Cusco in Maras, Peru. This hotel is breathtaking and every room has the Andes Mountains as a picture perfect view. Also, they have free roaming Llamas and Alpacas that you can interact with during your stay.
In this blog post we will be sharing everything you need to know before your stay.

How to Get To Mountain View Experience
Mountain View Experience is located in Maras, Peru. This is approximately 1.5 hours outside of Cusco depending on the traffic. To get to the hotel you can:
- Organize a transfer through the hotel – the cost was 135 Soles for a private car from Cusco
- Call an Uber from Cusco
- Rent a car and drive (there is parking on site)
We opted for the hotel arranged transportation which made everything seamless. We pre-payed prior to our arrival and the driver was waiting for us at the airport with a sign.
Accommodations at Mountain View Experience
There are a variety of different room categories available from smaller A-Frames to their newer Suites all with and without hot tubs. You can see all of their accommodation options here.
We opted for the A-Frame Munay which includes a comfortable A-Frame cabin with full bathroom, a private hot tub and fire pit with views of the Andes Mountains. The room also had a wood stove inside which the staff came and started for us in the evening.

Activities at Mountain View Experience
There are a wide variety of activities you can enjoy during your stay. From picnics to ATV tours to horse back riding, and even private Sacred Valley tours, there is something for everyone.
We are going to touch on our favourites, but you can find the full list here!
Interactions with Llamas and alpacas
Expect to see SO many llamas and alpacas during your stay. While they do roam freely throughout the property, you can organize with the staff to bring some by your room to feed them from your hot tub. This is a once in a lifetime kind of experience! They staff also bring them by the restaurant a few times during the day so you can have the opportunity to feed them there as well.

Picnic with a view
The picnic set up is next level. The staff set up a variety of these small tipis with the epic mountain views. There are 2 different kinds of picnic experiences:
- Classic Picnic: This includes wine and cheese as well as thier signature painting experience. It is for approximately 2 hours and costs $63 USD per person.
- Picnic Lunch: This includes a three course lunch menu and their signature painting experience. This is also for around 2 hours and costs $63 USD per person.

Food and Drinks at Mountain View Experience
The onsite restaurant is called Ancestral – and it is fantastic. You do not need to be guest to have dinner here (people drive ALL the way from Cusco to eat here). The food pays homage to traditional Peruvian culinary traditions and is made with organic, local ingredients.
There is indoor and outdoor seating available and every seat has an incredible view. For the chillier evenings, we highly recommend sitting inside because there are wood stoves and candles throughout the restaurant making the atmosphere that much more cozy.
We HIGHLY recommend the Lomo saltado con Fettuccine a la Huancaína which is beef tenderloin in a red wine sauce and a homemade fettuccine. The Tequeños de Tres Quesos are also super yummy. You can check out their full menu here!
Hotel Guests: Breakfast is included with your stay and it is a set menu of local fruits, followed by eggs, toast, cheese, avocado and some deli meats. Coffee and coca tea are also included in the breakfast as well as a fruit juice of your choice.

Other Things To Know Before Your Stay
Amenities Onsite: Our bathroom had towels, robes, shampoo and conditioner. They also provided drinkable water in the room which can be refilled at anytime.
Communication During Your Stay: You communicate with the front desk via Whats App so be sure to have the installed prior to your stay. They provide a list of all the essential information like meal times and activity offerings when you first check in. This is also how you can request assistance in your cabin or if you need a ride from your cabin to the restaurant. (The property is quite expansive)
Ponchos and Hats To Loan: The team here has truly thought of everything, and there is a small chest of ponchos and a hat rack that you can use during your stay. You just need to let the front desk know what you are taking so they can keep track!
Final Thoughts
Mountain View Experience is a unique hotel that offers an unforgettable experience from the moment you arrive. With epic mountain views, unique experience and activities, the cutest neighbours (the llamas of course!) and incredible onsite dining, this hotel needs to be on your Peru bucket list!
