When we think of Bora Bora, we think of beautiful blue lagoons, Mount Otemanu views and luxurious hotels. During our French Polynesia vacation, we spent a few nights at the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa. This Resort is just as beautiful as the photos and is a must visit Resort during your vacation to Bora Bora.
Our Island hopping adventure begins in Tahiti! We stayed at the InterContinental Tahiti Resort and Spa. From Tahiti, we flew into the Bora Bora Airport where we were whisked away to our Overwater Villa at the InterContinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort. After a few nights of adventure on the main Island of Bora Bora, we sailed on the Resort’s Boat to InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa for a luxurious stay.

Accommodations
There are a total of 84 luxurious Overwater Villas at the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa. There are various categories of Overwater Villas at this Resort. The Diamond Overwater Villa overlooks out to Bora Bora’s main island, the Sapphire Villa overlooks the lagoon, and the Emerald Villa offers views of the beach and the motu. And the Diamond Otemanu Villa looks right out over the lagoon to Mount Otemanu.
We stayed in the Diamond Otemanu Overwater Villa, overlooking the lagoon with epic views of Mount Otemanu. Our Overwater Villa was expansive with high ceilings and beautiful details throughout. There is a large living room space which features a glass coffee table to watch the fish swim below. You can turn the light on a nighttime to watch the fish swim below your Villa! The bedroom is large and has a luxurious king size bed. In the bathroom, there is a large soaking tub looking out over the water and walk in shower with a bench. All rooms have large windows looking out into the magical lagoon.
The best part of the Villa is the huge deck over the water! The deck is complete with sun loungers, a dining table and direct access to the beautiful blue lagoon below. We woke up every morning and went straight from the bed and jumped into the ocean in just a few steps! We even spotted Sting Rays from the deck while we ate breakfast!

Resort Amenities
The InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa is modern and luxurious. The Resort has a large white sand beach with direct access to a shallow, warm lagoon with plenty of snorkeling opportunities. Lounge chairs are located on the beach for soaking up some sun and relaxing. If you are looking to have some fun in the sun, there are paddle boards, kayaks, and traditional Polynesian canoes, which are all included with your stay, located right on the beach!
Lagoonarium
The Resort has an incredible sheltered Lagoonarium that is a coral nursery. Working with Marine Biologists, the Resort grows coral and houses hundreds of tropical fish. It is a great place to snorkel and swim. The fish are very friendly and come right up to you when you are swimming! Overlooking the Lagoonarium is the dreamy wedding chapel! This is an absolutely stunning place to tie the knot or renew vows.
Infinity Pool
The Infinity Pool is what pool dreams are made of. The Pool is easily accessible with no stairs to enter, and offers the perfect view of Mount Otemanu. There are plenty of lounge chairs surrounding the pool, making it a perfect place to relax. The Pool staff are very friendly, the drinks are refreshing and the service is great!
Other Resort Activities
One special area of the Resort that we love is the “Secret Garden of Love”. Make sure to bring a lock with you or you can purchase one at the Resort’s gift shop. Write a special message, lock the lock to one of the designated palm trees, and the place your key inside of the Tiki’s mouth. By putting the key into the Tiki’s mouth, you are locking your love forever! How sweet is that!
Looking to plan something special? The concierge desk can help you book tours and excursions. Whether you are looking to Scuba Dive, swim with Sharks and Stingrays or even take an ATV Jungle tour on the Main Island, they can help you book it!
One thing that we loved, was that the Resort is quite expansive. We never felt crowded, even though the Resort was booked during our stay! We loved that there were so many options for relaxing, whether it be at the infinity pool, at the Lagoonarium, on the beach, or on the deck of your Overwater Villa! There is also a great Fitness Center on the Resort and tennis courts for those who like to stay active during their holiday.
Restaurants
The restaurants at the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa each offer delicious and unique dining experiences. There are three restaurants on the property and a few bars, offering an array of choices for anyone’s tastes.
Sands
Sands Restaurant was our favourite restaurant for dinner. It offered beachfront seating in a large open air pavilion. Sands has the best views of Mount Otemanu and is the perfect place to watch the sunset as you eat your meal! Sands also has the Sunset Bar which is located right on the beach and is where Happy Hour takes place each day at Sunset.
Reef
Reef restaurant is a beautiful open air dining restaurant overlooking the Lagoon. If you are including the breakfast package with your stay, then this is where the incredible buffet breakfast will be found. The Breakfast Buffet offers a wide variety of classic breakfast dishes, to Polynesian specialties like Poisson Cru! In the evening, they offer French inspired dishes, and once a week there is a Polynesian Show! The show was incredible, and we highly recommend making a reservation for that night.
Le Corail
Le Corail is a gourmet French restaurant with an impressive wine cellar. This restaurant offers a la carte options or a tasting menu with wine pairings. This is the perfect place for a romantic night out! A reservation is required, so stop by the concierge desk to arrange that.
Canoe Breakfast
A special experience that you can arrange while staying at the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa is a Canoe Breakfast! The Canoe paddles up to your Overwater Villa and you are greeted by Ukulele and singing. You are then whisked away for a Canoe ride and serenaded while the team sets up the breakfast. We highly recommend adding this to your experience at the Resort, it was incredible!
Romantic Dinner
For an unforgettable night, we highly recommend booking a private, romantic dinner! You can choose to dine on the private deck of your Overwater Villa, in a private area of Reef Restaurant, or right on the beach! Enjoy a bottle of Champagne and a Gourmet Four Course meal on a specially decorated table for two. This the perfect idea for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion.
Final Thoughts
The InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso is the epitome of luxury. With the location on a private Island, the large and expansive Overwater Villas, to the dreamy views of Mount Otemanu, this place is absolute perfection. Overall, we highly recommend visiting this Resort during your trip to Bora Bora.
