While most people go to Tanzania and Kenya, we think you should go on safari in Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe instead.
Botswana not only has the largest population of elephants in the world, but these destinations offer the rare opportunity to spot the big 5 without the crowds. These destinations also offer the chance to experience unique water based safaris, and see one of the 7 natural wonders of the world.
Our itinerary was 13 nights in total with 4 nights in Botswana, 3 nights onboard one of the worlds only safari river cruises and 6 nights exploring Zimbabwe.

Safari In Botswana
Botswana is one of the most underrated safari destinations in Africa. Not only do they have the largest population of elephants on the planet, but they also have the largest inland Delta making for some very unique safari experiences and wildlife viewing opportunities.
We stayed at boutique luxury safari camps set in the Okavango Delta. Our accommodations were in luxury safari tents with comfortable beds, indoor and outdoor showers and large verandas where we spotted elephants, lions, giraffes and SO much more from our tent. Each stay had all-inclusive food and drinks, and included morning coffee and tea out on safari, as well as unique sun downer experiences with cocktails snacks and bonfires.
Our days were filled with various game drives in land cruisers, water based game drives and an opportunity to go on a traditional Mokoro Canoe.

Safari River Cruise
We spent 3 nights on one of the world’s ONLY safari river cruises.
This is hands down the most unique cruises we have ever been on, not to mention the most intimate. We stayed onboard the Chobe Princess, a luxury houseboat which sleeps up to 10 people. Each day we went out on small boats to cruise the Chobe River and observe wildlife from the water. We saw massive herds of elephants, lions, giraffes, hippos and SO much more.
Our stay onboard included all of our food and drinks, as well as opportunities for catch and release fishing and to visit a local village.

Safari in Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe is one of the most underrated safari destinations in Africa. Here you have the opportunity to see the big 5 without the long lines of safari cars, but you can also stop and see one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World.
Our Zimbabwe itinerary was 6 nights in total, which included 2 nights in Victoria Falls, and then 4 nights in luxury safari camps set in remote areas of Hwange National Park.
Our stay in Victoria Falls included a visit to the National Park to see the falls upclose, and a visit to a Rhino conservancy to learn more about their efforts to keep this species from going extinct. We enjoyed a luxury hotel stay which included a swim out room to rest and recharge.
Our time in Hwange National Park was spent in luxury safari tents with a similar set up to those we stayed at in Botswana. One camp even had a watering hole seen by every tent where massive herds of elephants and so much other wildlife gathered throughout the day.
