How to Get to Chalet Al Foss
Chalet Al Foss is located near the charming town of Vermiglio, in northern Italy’s Trentino region. The nearest major airport is Verona Villafranca Airport (VRN), approximately a 2.5-hour drive away. Alternatively, you can fly into Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) (which is what we did!) or Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) and take a scenic drive through the Italian Alps.
Rental Car
Renting a car is the most convenient way to reach the hotel, as it allows you to explore the surrounding mountain villages and picturesque landscapes at your own pace. We drove a rental car to the hotel and the hotel itself has plenty of parking. This also gives you some freedom to explore the area on your own time.
IMPORTANT: If you are traveling to the area in the winter and aren’t comfortable driving in winter conditions we do not recommend renting a car.
Pick Up Service
The hotel has a pick up service that they can arrange prior to you arrival to get you at the airport you fly into. This is a great idea if you don’t want the responsibility of navigating to the hotel on your own or if you are visiting during the winter season and are not familiar with winter driving as most rental cars offer snow chains only (no winter tires)!
TIP: Arrange this service will before your stay to give the hotel time to coordinate your driver.

- Winter (November to March): A paradise for snow lovers, winter transforms the Italian Alps into a breathtaking winter wonderland. Guests can enjoy skiing and snowboarding in the area. In the evening you can enjoy the heated hot tubs, cozy interiors and great restaurants on the property. Fondue anyone?
- Spring (April to June): As the snow melts, the region bursts into life with blooming wildflowers and pleasant temperatures. This is the perfect season for travellers who enjoy fewer crowds.
- Summer (July to September): Warm, sunny days make summer an excellent time for outdoor adventures such as hiking, mountain biking, and exploring the Dolomites’ stunning landscapes. The infinity pool at Chalet Al Foss is particularly inviting during these months!
- Autumn (October to November): A quieter, more peaceful time to visit, autumn brings golden foliage and crisp mountain air. It’s an excellent season for relaxation, photography, and spa experiences as the hotel provides a cozy escape before winter sets in.
What To Expect During Your Stay At Chalet Al Foss
Chalet Al Foss is known for its sophisticated Alpine charm and unique rooms and experiences. Guests can choose from a variety of stylish rooms and suites, many of which feature private hot tubs or panoramic balconies overlooking the stunning Alps. We loved the special touches like a glass of champagne on arrival to the hotel.
Unique Rooms and Suites
One of the things that sets Chalet Al Foss apart from any other hotel is the unique rooms and suites. Almost every room is different and offers something unique and special. We stayed in two different rooms during our stay. One was the Chalet Charlotte with Tub #404 and we absolutely loved this room. The team decorated it with flowers and lights which made our welcome extra special! We also stayed in the Chalet Dolomites Garden #202 which was very unique and has a great balcony with plenty of space.
Spa and Wellness
One of the highlights from Chalet Al Foss is their spa and all of its features. Every stay includes access to the stunning sauna, solarium, outdoor hot tubs, multiple relaxing rooms, and an infinity pool with an epic mountain view! Aside from that they offer incredible spa treatments like massages and facials and more.
The outdoor infinity pool is truly the star of the show at this property. It is heated in the winter to be able to use year round. They recently expanded the pool to accommodate more guests which we think is a huge plus. Every afternoon there is live music and a DJ by the pool and is a great time to grab a cocktail and enjoy the view of the mountains from the pool.
Restaurants at Chalet Al Foss
The restaurants at Chalet Al Foss offered a variety of dining experiences and local dishes to try. We enjoyed the locally inspired menus. We highly recommend trying some of the homemade pastas and the fondue. The fondue is a signature dish of the hotel! The breakfast is included in your stay their main restaurant.
Experiences At Chalet Al Foss
One of the absolute highlights of this property is all of the different experiences that they offer. Want to eat breakfast with Alpacas? You can do that! Want to have charcuterie in the pool in the evening? You can do that too! While the experiences are an extra cost, there are some incredible ones to choose from for all seasons and we believe they are worth the price.
Breakfast in BEd
The Chalet Al Foss team takes breakfast in bed to a whole other level. You can book the experience to eat breakfast in a heated outdoor bed while looking at the Italian Alps. We recommend booking this experience in advance as this is extremely popular. They also offer wine in the evening with snacks in the bed if breakfast is not your thing.
Breakfast in a Treehouse
A recent addition to the experiences offered at Chalet Al Foss is breakfast in the treehouse. This heated space is set up for you prior to your arrival. They also bring the last few dishes delivered in a mini gondola. This experience is very private and the view from the balcony of the treehouse is incredible.
Dinner In The Small chalet
This dinner experience is a romantic set up for 2 people and offers a unique dining experience at the property. A tasting menu is offered with choices for every palate and in one of the two beautifully decorated little chalets.
Hot Tub In Love
This experience is called a “Love Set” and can be booked prior to your arrival or when you arrive to the hotel. The staff decorate one of the small hot tubs with beautiful rose petals and you can add extras like food and drinks to your experience.
Floating Aperativo
In the evening, you can rent the infinity pool for a floating aperativo. You get a romantic evening with your person and a charcuterie board and champagne in the heated pool!
